Script prep

Just sitting down to read the scripts for next week, we'll be finishing off episode five and moving on to six. We are working out of order, so I think episode one is after this. At any rate I still need to read and prepare 3 and 4, cuz they were published late. I went shopping today for some comic books at my favourite place in the city 'Silver Snail' and got an action figure made by Mcfarlane toys of Phil Esposito, who, btw will be making a guest appearance on the show! Very exciting. So I don't know what to do with it, if I will bring it in to decorate the room or what . . .

Just saw the leaf game tonight against Phoenix, we played so poorly that the K-1 kickboxing and MMA on the other tv sets in the bar were much more exciting to me. . .which is no surprise actually. . . I would have split my attention anyway, since it all began with a few classic Ali fights!

Okay, back to RAG (rent a goalie), we got our first google alert last week and we're having Star TV come in and do brief interviews with the cast on Tuesday. I'll post the time and date of the airing of said interviews on the same day. Here is the link to the write up for our show: RAG

In other news. . . tomorrow is the first two episodes of the four hour season premiere of 24's season 5. Should be pretty exciting, but if it's not, I'm not going to waste my time watching it every week. Those shows can get pretty preposterous.

You want good drama? Watch Battlestar Galactica. I'm not kidding. Season 2 started tonight on Space channel here in Toronto. But it's already aired on Sci Fi, i know cuz i downloaded the Torrent last week, now I have to wait for season 2.5 which doesn't air till march. Gah!!! It's four more episodes.

Awesome coincidence of the week: One of the actors on RAG is the son of one of the main actors on BSG! Now that, I found terribly exciting. I don't know how excited he was to find a fellow actor suddenly turn rabid fan ("Dude, your dad is awesome on that show!!"), but fuck that show is fantastic! I can't get enough. . . and therefore I put out the following question to all of Geekdom. . .where are the action figures?! The trading cards?! For the re-imagined BSG? (BattleStar Galactica).

All right. I'll write more this week. We've already very nearly, completed episode five. I had some good scenes and some great moments. Oh and BTW we're shooting completely in HD! Just adding to the coolness of it all.

Carlos out.

Trial by Ice Time

Holy shit. Started work today at 2:30 am. . . Put on full goalie gear at 4:am. . . stayed in it until 9:am . . . skating, skating, skating. The other actors with more skating experience lasted longer than i did and I gave in after lunch and let my photo double do some of the work. I think they decided to cut me a break since they had to come get me twice after lunch for blocking. I had fallen back asleep after the the first time!

Man oh man, was it tough. Still so much damned fun, unbelieveable. I'm glad I was able to get the right size goalie skates in the end. I discovered that the ones I'd been renting over the holidays were two sizes too small and no wonder I was in agony!! I couldn't last 2 laps in those and I lasted 4 1/2 hours in the larger ones.

I think this show will be great. The actors are all fantastic, the director is something else, he's an incredible skater (spent the majority of the shoot in skates, directing and at one poing even running the steady cam while following his goalies around the ice!). I am too tired to give a better account and still have to finish preparing for tomorrow's studio stuff. We're done with the hockey for all the episodes that feature it and now move on to the acting. Even after my four hour nap this afternoon, I'm ready to go down for another four or five hours.

Rent A Goalie will air in the fall of 2006 at some point on Showcase. Not sure of time/days yet, but I'm sure that info will come soon.
