Today's the Day!!!

It's the first day of summer, but it's also the day the first privately funded manned space flight takes place! To be more precise it will be a sub-orbital launch, just to prove it can be done. The ship will be flown to about 50km on another plane, The White Knight, and then fire up engines till 100km into the atmosphere, not quite reaching the speeds necessary for continuous orbit, but high enough to bring out thousands of people and excite me! (according to the press release, it's safer and cheaper than continuous orbit, but the view from up there is similar)
